Recap
Paul proposes to Terry.
Scott wonders whether to do work experience with Jim.
Paul announces to the family that he and Terry are getting married.
Robinsons
The Robinsons recover from their shock and congratulate Paul. Helen and Julie go to get some champagne. Julie is very quiet but says she's happy for both of them. Helen asks if she's still upset about Phil. Julie clearly is. She thinks it's a bit of a snap decision for Paul and Terry though - they haven't been out together for very long and Terry did use to like Shane.
In the living room, everyone has a glass of champagne and Jim proposes a toast.
Terry asks Lucy to be her flower girl and she's very excited. She also asks Julie to be her bridesmaid, much to her surprise.
HELEN: Thank heaven we have a plumber in the family! Three grown men and they just disappear as soon as I mention a leaky tap!
Paul says that Terry won't be working after they're married because she'll be looking after the house, much to Terry's horror. She covers it up though.
Outside the Bank, the following morning
Julie is telling Des about the proposal. Des says that he's not surprised and Julie shouldn't interfere.
Robinsons
Paul and Terry have been looking for a ring, but Terry couldn't find anything she liked. Terry asks Paul about her quitting work - she doesn't think it's a good idea. Paul says he won't be there a lot while he's away with the airline. Terry says that her pay packet will help them. Paul says he just wants her all to herself, even though it's unrealistic and selfish(!)
Ramsay Street
Danny is asking Scott what he's planning for Paul's bucks night. He says that Scott will be the best man - it's traditional to ask your brother. Scott is shocked - he'll have to organise the bucks night, hold the ring, get flowers for the bridesmaids, make a speech at the reception etc. etc. Danny says he'd better brace himself(!)
Robinsons
JIM: Well, don't leave it too long, I'm so hungry I could eat Basil!
HELEN: I haven't even started it yet!
JIM: Basil! (whistles)
Scott comes in and sits down with Jim and Paul. He hints a bit about the best man thing but Paul doesn't bite(!)
Paul asks Jim how he feels about it. He says it's a bit strange - your first child getting married.
PAUL: Yeah. I miss mum, too.
Ramsays
Richard comes round to see Maria and is met by a frosty-faced Danny.
They sit in the living room in silence while they wait for Maria to come out of the shower. Then Danny storms out of the back door.
Richard invites Maria to dinner tomorrow night, but she has a lecture on. She suggests they meet for supper afterwards.

Helen comes round and introduces Richard to Helen. Maria is still wearing her dressing-gown(!)
Helen has come to tell Maria that she can't make the lecture tomorrow night. She thinks Richard is very good looking. Can't see it myself.
Helen tells Maria that she's fitting a dress for Lucy to wear at the wedding. Maria is surprised that Terry and Paul are getting married - she thought Terry was interested in Shane. Helen says it was a flash in the pan.
Scott's bedroom
Danny and Scott are hanging out. Scott is trying to think of jokes to put into his best man's speech, but they don't know any clean ones(!) He starts to practice his speech and Lucy comes in and starts laughing.
Ramsay Street
Scott sees Jim outside the house. Jim asks why Lucy told him that Scott was practising a speech. Scott says it's a speech for Social Studies. Jim says that he was Max's best man. They compare notes on the best man's duties. He says he'll ask Daphne about buck's parties(!)
Paul and Terry come up and Paul goes inside to answer the phone. Terry tells Jim that she saw lots of nice rings today, but knew they couldn't afford them. Terry thinks that things are going a bit fast, but Paul is so enthusiastic to get married. Jim says she can't keep up the bluff about the ring forever. He tells her to come inside with him.
Robinsons
Helen, Julie, Paul and Scott are laying the table. Jim and Terry come in and Jim tells them that he's offered her Anne's ring. Julie isn't very pleased but just glowers quietly.
Jim tells Paul that Scott has been practising rituals at Social Studies in school - he's playing the best man.
HELEN: I completely forgot to ask! Who are you going to have as best man at your wedding?
PAUL: Who else? Shane, of course.
Scott's face is shocked and disappointed.

He and Maria have different lives now and Danny has to get used to that. Danny asks Max to come back. He sympathises, saying that he feels sad about Maria seeing other men, but the divorce is still going ahead.
MAX: You'll get used to it. Just like I had to do.
Danny invites Max to the movies, but he has something on tonight. He says he'll come another night. Max watches him go a bit sadly. Daphne is just getting up. She sees that a window is open and scary music plays. She suts the window and goes into the kitchen.
Daphne is in the kitchen now and I'm scared for her. Blimey, some toast has just popped out and I jumped a mile. So did Daphne! She goes back into the living room to find a standing lamp on its side on the sofa. Then Daphne hears a noise and the chandalier shakes. She looks round and then goes out of the back door, still in her nightdress.
In the garden by the gate, she bumps into the milkman. She asks him to come in and check the house, but he thinks she's propositioning him and runs away saying the wife would kill him if she found out(!)
Max's bedsit

Daphne's payphone
A lady knocks on the glass
Max's bedsit
Shane is departing to Daphne's place. Terry asks Shane if he and Daphne will be getting married. But he says his relationship with Daphne is just fun, no strings attached. Terry's not sure Daphne sees it that way.
When Shane has gone Max tells Terry that Daphne is probably exaggerating the stuff at the house!

A man looks over the fence and dess Daphne sitting in her night clothes. She tells him that there's someone in the house. He offers her to come next door to their place, but she says she'd better wait for the police. They have a chat and it turns out he's living in such a nice area because his father was a pools winner. He invites Daphne to come over after she's finished with the police.
Front porch
The police and Shane have arrived. The police have a look around but don't find anything. Daphne doesn't think that the police believe her - the person could have hidden properly while Daphne was outside. Shane pooh-poohs this and Daphne gets very cross. She asks Shane to stay with her tonight - he could stay in a spare bedroom. He agrees to come over after work.
Daphne goes back into the house.

MAX: I suppose we've done the right thing?
Max asks what Richard is like and Maria says he's a bit like Max but not quite so rough round the edges. Maria tells Max that she hopes he'll find someone who loves her as much as she does.
MARIA: I still love you, Max. Nothing will take this away.
Max looks a bit takenaback.
MAX: I suppose we've done the right thing, splitting up.
He takes Maria's hand and says he'll always love her too.
Max's bedsit
Max asks Shane what Richard Morrison is like. Shane says Danny doesn't like him much. He says that Max will say the right things to Danny - he's made a good shot of his life since he left Maria. He says Max should concentrate on his own positives, not the negatives.
Max tells Shane that Amy looked rough(!) so he took off!
Daphne's housesitting place - evening
Shane tells Daphne he's just got to go and pick someone up from the airport then he'll be back. Before he goes though, Daphne wants to ask him about their relationship. She wants to know where she stands. Shane says he's avoided talking about it - he doesn't want their relationship to stop being fun. He wants them to take things slow and wants to be very careful before he makes any commitment. Daphne is disappointed, but they agree they both like each other very much. They have a bit of a pash.
Shane leaves for the airport telling Daphne to scream if the boogeyman comes back. I am screaming already - why doesn't Daphne go to the airport with Shane?!
When Shane has gone, Daphne puts a tape in and I can hardly bear to watch. I hate scary things. Yikes, the door has opened a bit. Daphne hasn't noticed. She sits down on the sofa with a book. The door opens a bit more, but there's no-one on the other side. Suddenly some glass shatters on the mantlepiece. Thank goodness, it's the end of the eppy!

Recap
Des is irritated by Julie.
Daphne approaches an outhouse, having heard a noise.
Outhouse of Daphne's housesitting place
Daphne opens the door of the outhouse and a girl runs out. Daphne chases her and catches her. She demands to know who she is. She tells her angrily that she's scared her to death and she'd better tell her who she is. The girl looks suspiciously like the lead actress of The Henderson Kids, but I digress. The girl is very unpleasant and taunts Daphne a bit. Daphne says she'd better get some answers or she'll call the police. The girls laughs that she scared Daphne.
The girl tells Daphne that her name's Rachel, and she was at the house first, but she wasn't squatting. After some probing, Rachel says she has more right than Daphne to be in the house - this is her home. Daphne suggests that they go in for a cup of tea and a chat. Then she can decide whether to throw Rachel out(!)

Daphne's housesitting place

But her parents are divorced and she went to live with her mother and new stepdad, who she hates. So she came here to hide out. She didn't know that Daphne would be there. Daphne believes her, but still doesn't approve. Rachel shouts that she wants to be with her father and this is her home.
Daphne says that Rachel's mother must be worried sick. Rachel says that her mother called one day when Daphne was out. She put on an adult voice and told her mother that her father had moved.
Daphne picks up the phone to call Rachel's mother. Rachel says that her mother doesn't care - if she did she'd have found her by now. Daphne says she can't take responsibility for Rachel without her mother knowing where she is. Rachel says if she does, she'll ring the estate agent and tell Daphne that she had a man staying over. Daphne is angry.
(Later in the kitchen)
Rachel is fifteen, but Daphne doesn't think she acts it. Daphne says Rachel can stay for a while. She'll give her a chance to sort things out. But there'll be a few conditions - like Rachel has to tell her where she is at all times. Rachel protests, but Daphne says that Rachel is now her responsibility. Also she wants to know where she can contact Rachel's mother - she'll only call her if she has to. Daphne won't play blackmail like Rachel did.
Daphne says they might get on alright now they understand each other.
(Later)

DES: I've given up women. I think I'll just play the field.
EILEEN: Yes, an electric blanket is safer and cheaper!
Des tells Eileen that his father asked Des to go with him when he left. But he's not sorry he didn't. Well, sometimes he is, he really missed him when he was growing up. But he's glad Eileen is there, especially now. Des says the worst thing when you're depressed is to be on your own. He says that at least Terry still lives there. Eileen points out that Terry is marrying Paul soon. She says that noone cares like family does. Des says that Daphne cares, and he's got heaps of friends. Helen explains that Gwen denounced her as a thief in front of the entire school and Helen was expelled. While Gwen stayed on at school. Helen says it was awful - even her own parents didn't believe her. Only Bill believed her, and that's why Helen married so young - there was nowhere else to go.
