Recap
Helen and Jim have dinner with Richard and Maria, but Max turns up in the middle of it. He isn't pleased.
Ramsays
Max rants at Jim for lying to him. He accuses them all of laughing at him behind his back. Jim gets up and shouts at Max for being self-centred and if he had any decency he'd leave. Max points out that it's his house (and to be fair - he's right!) Richard tries to intervene, but Max tells him not to interfere. He stalks out, but has calmed down a bit and tells them all that he's sorry.
When Max, Jim and Helen have gone, Maria starts to cry and apologises to Richard. He tells her to forget it.
Des's
Danny is watching the proceedings from Des's window. He thinks Richard should leave them all alone, but Des says that if Richard loves Maria he'll stick around. Danny says that Max and Maria still love each other, but Des thinks that's gone now. If they got back together they'd only argue again. Danny says he just wants to see them together again.
Des tells Danny about when Malcolm left them - there's nothing the kids can do. Danny doesn't want to hear this.
Robinsons
Jim and Helen have arrived home. Helen says that Jim and Max should never have been fighting for this long - now Jim has given Max an excuse to carry the feud on. Jim says he's sorry for the way he spoke to Max earlier, but doesn't know what to do about it. Helen suddenly twigs that it must have been Danny who asked Max to come round in the first place.
Max's bedsit
Jim has come to see Max.
MAX: Well, if it isn't Judas himself!
Max doesn't want to make up with Jim - but Jim says he wants his say. He apologises to Max but tells him that he'd better lift his game or he'll lose his best mate as well as his wife and home. Max yells at Jim for being sanctimonious. Jim shouts back that he came round to apologise, but he's not going to bother now. He stalks out.
Ramsays
Richard and Maria are cuddling on the sofa. Richard tells her that they have to talk about things. He loves being with her, and wants to make tings more permanent. In fact, he wants to marry her. Maria doesn't say anything. Finally she says that she can't because Danny would be apopleptic with rage. Richard suspects that Danny is behind what happened tonight. He tells Maria to take off her blinkers and see how Danny is affecting them.
Des's
Des is watching the cricket. Danny is still at the window and is pleased to see Richard departing.
Daphne comes in and Des gives her a big hug. Shane carries her stuff in - she's very excited to be back.
Shane asks Danny why he's hanging out at Des's - and that Jim and Max have had a fight.
Ramsays
Maria is cleaning the carpet when Shane and Danny come in. Maria thinks Danny was the one who sent Max round too. She yells at Danny for not giving Richard a chance. Also for ruining Max and Jim's relationship. She shouts at Danny to get out.
DANNY: I only did it for you. Not that you care!
Danny tells Maria that he doesn't like Richard, but Maria says she just wants to be happy. She says that she gave up everything for Danny. Shane tells Danny off for his behaviour. Danny says he didn't mean for Max and Jim to fight - he wants the family back together. He wants things back as they were. Danny says that he doesn't fit in anywhere - not with Max and Shane and not with Maria and Richard. He stalks off to his room.
Des's
Daphne has already started clearing up the house(!) When she's finished she sits down with Des and accidentally sits on an ornament that Eileen has left(!)
Shane comes in and tells them that things are bad at the Ramsay house. Daphne suggests a picnic tomorrow. He heads off to give a driving lesson. Des is suspicious at the late hour - but Daphne says the woman Shane is teaching works shifts. Anyway, she trusts Shane.
Smuggler's Bar
Shane and Liz are having a drink. He makes out that he's a single bloke - he just "hangs out" with Daphne as friends(!) Liz invites Shane back to her place for a coffee. Oh dear, poor Daphne.
Des's, the following morning
Des and Daphne are cheerfully cooking breakfast. Daphne says that she feels a bit mean that Eileen had to move out, but Des says it's fine(!) Daphne says that Eileen needs a man - she's still young(ish). Des doesn't think any man is crazy enough to give Eileen a go. Daphne says it'd be nice for Eileen to have a new interest(!)
Daphne heads off to see Shane.
Max's bedsit
Daphne comes round to pick Shane up. But he isn't there and his bed hasn't been slept in. Max stutters and doesn't know what to say. Daphne realises that Shane didn't come home last night.
MAX: Must have been a long driving lesson.
Max tells Daphne not to worry - Shane might have dossed at a mate's or something.
Just as Daphne is about to explode with anger, Shane comes in.
SHANE: I didn't realise you'd be here so early.
DAPHNE: Obviously.

Des says that Daphne should just listen to Shane - he cares about her. Daphne starts to cry and says she doesn't care if Shane cares or not.
Ramsay Street

Des comes up and tells Jim that he tried to talk to Danny too, but it fell on deaf ears.
Des sees Maria and tells her about Danny being at his place during the dinner party and planning his scheme from there without Des fully realising. She tells Des that it's not his fault.
When Maria has gone, Shane comes out. Des asks him for a word, but Shane says he isn't going to talk to Des about Daphne. He says Daphne is making too much out of things - he's not spending the rest of his life pussy-footing around Daphne. Des isn't impressed - he says Shane should set the ground rules first if he isn't interested in a serious relationship.
The Bank
Julie tells Des she'll come over and cook him a meal, but Des says that Eileen is coming over. Des takes offence when Julie implies that his mother runs his life and he's under Daphne's thumb.
Des takes offence and says that just because he respects women, it doesn't make him a wimp!
Des's
Daphne is doing aerobics when Eileen calls round with some shopping. Daphne helps her to carry in her groceries.
Eileen fusses round the house and is pleased to see her ornament on display(!) She and Daphne potter round the kitchen. They talk about dancing and exercise. Daphne offers Eileen to try out her aerobics routine and says she could lend her a leotard. She says she and Eileen must be about the same size. Eileen is delighted at this and starts doing gentle aerobics in the kitchen.
The Bank

Daphne tells her again that she can't be any bigger than Daphne is. Eileen takes off her robe and Daphne tells her she looks great. They start to do exercises and Eileen is laughing her head off with enjoyment.
Robinsons
Paul is steamed up about Max's recent behaviour.

Max's bedsit
Terry is trying to reason with Max. She says that Richard hasn't even been invited - and she wants her boss there. Max says that things are bad between Jim and him, but Terry says she's inviting him personally and give him an invitation. Terry won't take no for an answer, saying that Max is the closest thing she has to family in Erinsborough. Max starts to soften.
TERRY: Besides, I don't just want you there, I need you there.
MAX: You'll be better off without me...
TERRY: I won't! And I won't accept that for an answer.
MAX: Why not?
TERRY: Cos I want you to give me away.
Max isn't sure - it's not a proper wedding, as it's not in a church, so Terry doesn't need anyone to give her away. But Terry says she wants a few trimmings this time because she didn't have any the first time. Max eventually agrees.
MAX: Terry. Thanks for asking.
They hug.

They awkwardly shake hands. Then George asks if he can take Eileen out to dinner one night next week to repay her hospitality.

Helen is comforting Maria. They both cry and Helen tells Maria she'll miss her dreadfully. Helen says that Maria will have to have the courage to tell Max and Shane that she's going to Hong Kong. She advises Maria to keep calm and not to let Danny drag her into a slanging match.
Des's
Terry is relaxing with a magazine and a face mask. Julie is doing her nails. They chat about women's expectations for men these days - they like a man with a bit of savoir-faire. Des is surprised to hear this(!)
Ramsays
Maria is just off to see Max. She tells Danny that she has a chance of being very, very happy with Richard - something she hasn't had with Max for a long time. Danny is standing in her way. She really wants Danny to come - there's loads of opportunities in Hong Kong. Danny doesn't buy this - Maria just wants to go with Richard.
Shane comes out and overhears the tail end of their conversation. Danny tells him that Maria is going to Hong Kong to live with Richard. Shane digests this, and then says that if it's what Maria wants, she should do it. Danny is even more angry and says he doesn't want to go - all his friends are in Erinsborough, and what's left of his family. He storms off to see Max.
Shane tells Maria that he can't talk now - Des is expecting him. Maria says she's going to see Max anyway.
SHANE: You haven't told him, have you. It's going to hit him hard.
MARIA: I know.
Des's
Terry and Shane are laughing at an article in a magazine. Des has made them cucumber sandwiches and tea - apparently it's a "kitchen tea". Des and Shane have got Terry some presents - mostly kitchen utensils!
Shane asks Terry if she'll have dinner with him tonight - there's been a bit of hassle at home and he needs to get out. She agrees.
Max's bedsit
Max is wearing a suit when Maria arrives. He starts to make his reconciliation speech to her, but Maria tells him that she's going to Hong Kong with Richard. Max looks gutted.

Recap
Maria tells Max that she wants to go to Hong Kong with Richard.
Max's bedsit
Max is flabbergasted at this news. He says he was going to tell Maria something but it's too late now. He asks about Danny and Maria explains that Danny is refusing to go.
MAX: Oh no you don't. I'm not copping it! You're not shoving him on to me while you go overseas with your new bloke!
Max is very agitated so Maria decides to go. Danny is waiting outside and starts to cry that Max doesn't want him. Maria tries to comfort him.
Later at Max's bedsit
Shane comes in to find Max sitting in the dark with a beer. Max looks very depressed and Shane has heard from Maria what happened. Max says he'll be fine - he's getting used to single life. Shane knows that Max was hoping for a reconciliation - Terry told him. Max is mad and says that Terry had no right to tell Shane. He quickly calms down though and Shane tells Max not to give up yet - maybe Maria won't go after all. Max doesn't think there's much chance of that though.
Max doesn't want Danny to live with them - it's partly that he's not Max's real son, but also that they never got on well when they were living together full-time. Shane says that they have to make the most of what's left of their family.
Ramsays
Shane comes round to see Danny, but Maria says he's in bed - he's very hurt. Shane tells Maria that Max wanted to get back with her. Maria says she never gave him any encouragement. Now she's with Richard, but she won't go to Hong Kong if she can't sort out living arrangements for Danny.
Danny comes out in his dressing-gown and he and Shane have a chat in the living room. Shane wants Danny to go and see Max in the morning - it won't hurt to talk to him about things.
Des's the following morning
In the garden, Terry and Daphne are having a cup of tea in a china cup and saucer with a china teapot! Terry chats about Max's marriage difficulties, but Daphne thinks she should concentrate on her own wedding. Daphne thinks Terry is still hung up on Shane, but before she can say anything, Shane comes up. He sits down with Daphne for a cup of tea. She's obviously still upset over the whole Liz business. Daphne says she really admires Maria for being so good with Danny. Shane thinks Maria is crazy for considering staying behind. Daphne thinks Shane has changed since she first met him - he was a much more sensitive guy back then.
Robinsons
The Robinsons are starting to get the rooms ready for the wedding rehearsal. Helen fills Jim in on the true story - that Maria is going to Hong Kong with Richard. Jim is horrified - Max will be heart-broken. Jim says he'll have to apologise to Max for getting the wrong end of the stick.
The celebrant arrives and Helen offers her a cup of tea, rescuing her from Julie's clutches(!)
In the kitchen, Jim and Helen chat to the celebrant about her job - apparently even religious people do use a celebrant as it's not as formal and nerve-wracking as a church.
Terry arrives and Julie immediately starts giving her jobs to do!
Jim and Shane chat about Max in the kitchen. Jim says he feels really bad - he had no idea Maria was going to Hong Kong as well as Richard. Shane says he's more worried about Danny - he's got it in his mind that neither of his parents care about him.
Max's plumbing job - back of a house, somewhere
Danny has come round to see Max in a free lesson. He asks him straight out if it's true that Max doesn't want Danny to live with him. Max says he just thinks Danny would be happier with Maria - they never got on well when they were living together 24/7. They get on wel now, but that's because they're living apart, he reckons. Danny says he's not going to Richard to Hong Kong - he's rather live with Max and Shane. Max says he's not worried about Danny - he's worried about himself. Max wants to know what Danny really thinks of him - the truth.
DANNY: OK. You're a bad-tempered old sod. But you're alright, I suppose.
They both laugh. Danny says he does care - he loves Max. Now it's Max's turn to say what he thinks of Danny.
MAX: You're not a bad kid.
Max isn't sure he could handle being Danny's only parent, but Danny says he misses him. Max says sometimes their family life all seems like a dream.
DANNY: She hasn't gone yet.
MAX: Oh yes she has, son. She went a long time ago.
Robinsons
Shane is standing in for Paul in the wedding rehearsal and putting the ring on Terry's finger. Daphne comes in and observes this silently, arms folded. The celebrant mistakes Shane for the true groom, and Julie explains that Paul will be back tomorrow.
Terry is looking a bit downcast (the Shane factor, clearly) so tells Julie and Daphne that she's going home to have a rest. Daphne goes with her.
Des's
Daphne is still in a bad mood. She asks Terry outright if she loves Paul, and if she's still in love with Shane. Daphne says it's not too late to back out if Terry wants too - Paul is a good friend and she doesn't want to see him hurt. Terry insists that she loves Paul and their marriage will work - she's over Shane.
Robinsons
Julie is bossing Shane about and telling Shane not to get Paul hopelessly drunk on the stag night! Julie asks Shane whats going on with Maria and Max, but Helen quickly intervenes and sends her to make a cup of tea.
Shane asks Helen if he can chat to her about Danny.
In the kitchen, Julie starts going on about Aunty Gwen again - she wants to know why Helen doesn't want her there. Jim tells her firmly to keep her nose out of other people's business.
(Later)
Julie is making a coffee. Helen has gone to talk to Maria. Jim apologises for snapping at Julie earlier. They start chatting about Danny - Jim has been over to see Max. Jim says that he's suggested that Danny stays with them until Max sorts himself out. Jim says it's up to Max and Maria to decide though.
Ramsays
Maria doesn't want Danny staying with the Robinsons - she'd feel like she was dumping him on them and she'd feel too guilty. Maria says she mustn't think more of her personal happiness than Danny's - it's wrong. She can't let others pay the price for her happiness.
Robinsons
Julie and Terry are doing the room decorations. Jim comes off the phone and tells them that Paul is stranded in Singapore - but he'll be able to get on a flight in an hour.
Just then, there's a knock at the door and Jim answers it.
GWEN: You must be Jim. Thank you for your invitation. I'm Gwen, Helen's sister.
Helen has her back to the door but her head jerks up in shock when she hears this.

Recap
Danny is upset that Max doesn't want him to live with him.
Max thinks he and Danny would just argue again if they lived together - they only get on well now because they're living apart.
Danny comes to see Max at work and has a chat.
Aunty Gwen turns up at the Robinson house. Helen is shocked.
Robinsons
Jim says that Gwen had better come in. Gwen calls hello to Helen, but she walks off into the kitchen without looking back. Julie and Terry greet Aunty Gwen and she explains she's just come to say hello and to thank them for the invitation - she wasn't expecting it.
GWEN: Goodbye, Helen.
There is no answer.
When Gwen has gone, Helen storms in and rants at Julie for what she's done. Helen insists she'll never forgive Gwen and Jim says that Julie should be ashamed of herself.
HELEN:(tearfully) Look, for once in your life, will you stop interfering in everyone's business but your own. I'm sick to death of your busybodying, I've had enough, Julie!
Helen walks off to her bedroom in tears.
Des's
Daphne apologises to Terry for asking her about Shane before. The guys are all out on a bucks night - weirdly, since Paul the groom is still in Singapore!
When Terry has gone to bed, Des and Shane stagger in wondering where Paul is. Daphne explains that Paul is in Singapore. They are rather drunk and Shane says that he can't stand in for Paul at the real wedding - he likes his freedom too much.
Daphne starts talking to Shane about their relationship. She says if Shane wants to be just good friends, he's got it. Shane says there's nothing between him and Liz. Daphne calmly tells him that it's strange how one night could wipe out all the weeks and months they had together.
Des sticks his nose in at this point and tells them to just kiss and make up. So they do! Terry comes out and sees them kissing. She goes back to bed, sadly.
Ramsays, the following morning
Richard has come round to see Maria, who's dressed up for the wedding. He asks after Danny and Maria tells Richard that Danny isn't coming to Hong Kong, nor is he going to stay with Danny.
RICHARD: You're not coming with me, either.
MARIA: I can't, Richard.
Maria says there's nothing they can do - Danny is her responsibility. Richard thinks there must be a way around it, but Maria says it must be all or nothing.
RICHARD: So...you want me to go.
MARIA: You can't stay and I can't go. It's fun, isn't it.
RICHARD: Maria. I wish I could do something.
MARIA: There's nothing you can do. Just...go quickly.
Richard goes to the door.
RICHARD: If ever you want me, or need me...
MARIA: I'll always do both.
Richard leaves.
Outside the Ramsays
Richard meets Max who is coming up the stairs. Max has obviously rushed over as his car engine is still running. Richard explains that Maria is going to stay to look after Danny.
MAX: Good woman, Maria. Her happiness means a lot to me, you know.
RICHARD: Means the world to me as well, Max.
MAX: In that case, you'd better come and listen to what I've got to say. The longer I stay, the harder it gets to me.
They go into the house.
Ramsays
Danny is comforting Maria, and Shane has come in through the back door too. Maria is crying and goes to the kitchen when she hears a knock at the door.
Danny opens the door.
MAX: Where's your mother?
DANNY: She's not seeing anyone...
MAX: She'll see me...Maria!
They all sit down in the living room with Richard, too. Max paces.
MAX: Well. Time's come when a bloke's finally got to do something.
DANNY: Good on you, Dad.
MAX: You shut up, you. Caused your mother and me enough strife to last a lifetime. You've had your say. Now I'm going to have mine. Right. Well, I'll get straight to the point. I've been doing quite a bit of thinking over the last few days and...look, I know I haven't exactly been easy to get on with at the best of times. But it hasn't exactly been a bed of roses for me, neither. Like I say, I've been doing some thinking and any fool can see we can't go on like this! Maria...if you want to go away with Richard here, I think it'll cause us all a lot less pain and heartache if youse both go. Boys and me'll be OK.
Max is holding back tears throughout this exchange.
Robinsons
Everything is prepared, but Paul still isn't back - he got on the plane, but it hasn't landed yet. Scott asks what Helen is going to do about Gwen. She says, nothing until after the wedding.
Julie is arguing with the catering staff. Helen sends her off to get changed for the wedding. Julie starts arguing with Lucy about Basil, who has chewed her shoes.
Des's
Terry is dressed in a robe and is worried about Paul's arrival. She says there's no point getting dressed if Paul can't make it. Des rings the airport again, but there's no guarantees that Paul will land on time.
TERRY: Better make myself beautiful for Scott. [he is coming round to take photos]
DES: I'll help you with your garter!
There's a knock at the door and it's someone delivering a large present. Des opens it for some reason and finds a wreath inside with the banner "Till Death Us Do Part".
Back Garden of the Robinsons
Max comes to see Jim and tells him he's moving back to Ramsay Street next week - because Maria is going to Hong Kong. Jim admires him for what he's done. Max says it was the only thing to do, otherwise no-one would have been happy.
MAX: Not exactly of beans, you know. To tell you the truth, I feel lousy, you know, like someone ripped me guts out.
JIM: Yeah...I'm sorry mate.
Max puts a brave face on as best he can.
MAX: Can't stand here all day with a long faces. Got a bride to give away in a couple of hours. Make the second one today!
They laugh a bit and Jim agrees to come and get all the junk he left at Max's bedsit in return for Max helping with the chairs!
Des's
Scott is taking photos of Terry, Julie and Lucy. The phone rings and Julie answers it - Paul has landed at last!
Daphne is cutting Des's hair and tells him quietly that they can't tell Terry about the wreath - they've put it in the bin. They've told the police, but apparently no law has been broken.
Robinsons
The guests have arrived and are having some pre-wedding drinks. Paul still hasn't arrived and Helen is worried. Just then there's a toot on a car horn, and it's Paul - he's arrived!
Ramsay Street
Shane and Max usher Paul into the house to get ready.
Des's
Everyone is looking out of the window seeing Paul arrive back. Everyone is very pleased.
Robinsons
Aunty Gwen has arrived much to Helen's consternation. Jim tells Helen just to keep out of her way.

Recap
Jim answers the phone. A scary voice tells him a bomb has been planted under the house and it'll go off in ten minutes.
Robinsons
Jim asks Danny to nip next door and tell his father not to bring Terry across quite yet. Meanwhile he goes off with Scott to investigate.
Shane and Paul chat and Shane assures him that he won't lose the rings. Paul is very nervous.
Under the Robinsons house(!)
Jim and Scott have crawled under the house to have a look. Scott thinks it must be a hoax, but Jim isn't so sure - Terry was married to a nutter, after all.
Des's
Julie thinks Danny is joking with them, saying Terry has to get to the wedding on time. Terry is dressed in a nice white-ish dress, and Lucy is in a blue flowergirl dress.
Julie goes out to the garden with some rubbish, and we get a brief glimpse of the wreath which is in the bin.
Under the Robinsons house
Jim and Scott are looking for something suspicious. Suddenly Scott finds something.
Des's
Helen rings Julie to ask what the hold-up is. Julie says they'll come across soon, but agrees with Danny that she'll wait for Max.
Under the Robinsons house
Scott asks Jim if they should call the bomb squad. But Jim thinks it's a practical joke. He picks up the alarm clock and finds it isn't wired to anything.
Robinsons
Jim, Terry and Lucy have arrived, and so have Jim and Scott, brushing dust off themselves.
In the living room, Danny announces the bride and Terry walks down the aisle on Jim's arm. Paul is chuffed to bits as they stand in front of the celebrant. Just then the alarm clock goes off in Scott's pocket(!)
Helen reads from a book belonging to Anne.
HELEN: These simple words meant so much to her in her marriage. I'd like to repeat some of them today.
Love is eternal
Above all other emotions one's experienced, love never fades away.
(There is a close up on Julie's face - she looks a bit sad.)
Love has no barriers, makes no judgement.
Love is unlimited, except for the limitations you place upon it.
And marriage is the certain commitment of lovingly sharing oneself with another.
(There is a close up on Maria at this point.)
It is also loving the commitment you have made for yourself with a partner.
(Cut to Max, sitting alone in Des's house, looking sad.)
So be as joyous in your marriage as you are now.
Only then will you lovingly and radiantly make your marriage grow into an abundant and prosperous life.
For when two people make that commitment with the absolute intention of loving each other
Their love grows into a joyous celebration of life itself.
Paul hugs Helen while an elderly relative asks loudly what they are mumbling about(!) Everyone shushes her!
The celebrant takes Paul and Terry through their vows while we see both Des and Julie looking sad. As Terry says her vows, we see a close up of the wreath in Des's bin with a label, "Till Death Us Do Part".
Paul and Terry exchange rings and are declared to be husband and wife. Everyone cheers. The wreath still sits in the bin.
Later, in the kitchen, Helen asks Jim if he thinks Paul will be happy - she hopes they will. Just then, Gwen comes in and offers her help. Helen walks off immediately. Gwen asks Jim what Helen is really like - they haven't spoken in years. Gwen was touched by Helen's reading of the book at the wedding. Jim says if Helen hadn't stepped in when Anne died, he doesn't know what would have happened to the family. He says that Helen has great compassion. Gwen wishes she and Helen could forget their differences - what Gwen did to Helen.
Eileen is talking loudly to the deaf elderly relative, about Des being jilted at the altar(!) Eileen explains that the elderly relative, Daisy, is Jim's aunt.
Julie comes to talk to Aunty Gwen who is doing the dishes. Gwen thanks Julie for inviting her. Just then, Helen comes in and Gwen calls her over. She asks her to have lunch with her tomorrow.
HELEN: I'm sorry, Gwen, I'm busy tomorrow.
In the living room, Paul and Terry are talking to Aunt Daisy and she says that she hopes Terry is going to be a traditional wife(!)
Shane comes over and gives Terry a kiss. Paul says Shane owes him 10c - they made a bet when they were kids that Shane would get married first(!)
LUCY: Shane? If you're the best man, how come Terry didn't marry you?!
Everyone laughs.
Outside the Robinsons
Scott and Danny are preparing to attach cans and decorations to the car. Danny asks Scott why the wedding was held up, but he doesn't tell him. Danny says he didn't enjoy the wedding - "love and honour" is a joke. He's clearly upset about Maria going to Hong Kong with Richard. He's happy to stay with Max though.
Robinsons
Paul and Terry cut the cake and Shane reads the telegrams. The first one from Nana Robinson, one from the Taylor family, one from Nick Berman, one from Doug and Brad. Finally there's one from "Charles" who is "looking forward to meeting Terry's husband and sends his love". Terry says that Charles is a friend of hers and scary music plays. Finally, Shane wishes Terry and Paul love, happiness, and lots of children on behalf of everyone. They all toast the bride and groom.
Ramsay Street
Max is skulking about looking upset.
Robinsons
Jim tells Paul and Terry that if they ever need anything, they should come straight to them. He says he's bought the Sutton's house up the street, and Paul and Terry can live there rent-free for three months. Paul is very, very pleased. He thanks everyone for making it such a lovely day for them. In particular, he wants to thank Terry. And also his grandmother, Helen, for everything she's done to bring up the kids since his mum died. He also pays tribute to Aunt Gwen for coming today.
Aunt Gwen pipes up and says how happy she has been to renew old family acquaintances. She tells Helen that everyone loves her so much, but she has one more thing to say. She tells everyone the story of how she got Helen expelled for stealing when they were children. She starts to cry and tells Helen how sorry she is.
GWEN: Please, can't we forget it? After all, we're about the only two now who even remember it. Forgive me?
Slowly Helen reaches out her hand to Gwen and shakes it.

She says she'll never forgive Des for this. George makes light of it but Eileen drags Des off by his ear (literally) and gives him another dressing down. George offers Des a glass of wine but Eileen escorts Des to door, slamming it in his face.
When Des has gone, Eileen busies herself drying off George's trousers. She's obviously very upset though.
Ramsays
Max is watching TV while Danny tries to make steak and chips. The steak isn't defrosted, so Shane suggests running them under the hot tap. Max calms down and tells Danny he's sorry for shouting at him. He says they can have the steaks tomorrow and all is well. He starts telling Danny how to make gravy without lumps in(!)
Robinsons
Helen and Scott are looking at some of Helen's paintings. Des comes round looking for his spare set of keys - he's lost them and thinks he might have dropped them at the wedding. Des tells Helen about George who is "Eileen's new heart-throb".
Eileen's unit
George is telling Eileen that his whole life is work these days. They have been getting on very well. He stands up to leave since it's already 10.30pm and his trousers are already dry(!) At the door, he thanks Eileen for a good evening. They agree to see each other again. Then George goes to kiss her, but Eileen gives him her hand nervously and he kisses that instead.
The Bank, the following morning
Des asks George how he's getting on with Eileen, saying George is a "quiet achiever"(!) Apparently Eileen has told George that she left her husband. Des asks what Eileen said, but just then Eileen comes in with Helen. Helen has brought the paintings, so she shows them to Des while Eileen has a word with George. George tells Eileen that he inadvertantly mentioned Eileen's previous marriage to Des.
Just then, Des drags Eileen off and tells her not to lie to George about Des's father. He says she'd better be honest with George, and she'd better leave the Ramsays alone too.
Helen and Des look at the hanging order of the paintings. Just then, a customer comes up and gives his opinion on the hanging order. He introduces himself as Douglas Blake, an art advisor. He says Helen has an interesting style. Helen says she calls it "loose realism". They talk about art and Douglas invites Helen to come to the Coffee Shop with him.
Just then, Eileen comes up and Helen explains that they're about to go for coffee. Eileen invites herself along.

Coffee Shop
Helen, Eileen and Doulas are having coffee. Eileen is a bit bored by the art conversation and tries to change the subject. She starts telling Douglas about how Helen is a widow. In the end, Eileen takes the hint and wanders off, leaving Helen and Douglas to have a chat. However, she comes back and starts banging on about Max Ramsay(!)
Ramsay Street
Scott comes out with some wedding presents and the dodgy-looking man approaches him. He helps him to carry the presents, saying he's just moved in locally. He takes the keys and goes ahead to "open the door for Scott". While Scott is struggling with the presents, he presses the key into a mould.
The Bank
Des is eating a cheeseburger when George comes over to speak to him. He asks Des that he should speak more nicely to his mother. Des says his relationship with his mother is his business. George tells Des to examine his conscience and that Des takes his father's side more than he realises. Des is flabbergasted!

Eileen is still banging on about Max Ramsay while Helen and Douglas smile politely. Finally Eileen leaves, but comes back yet again to ask if they should meet up later. Helen tells her in a polite way to get lost(!)

She says she knows Jim went to visit Douglas today. Jim apologises and Helen says so he should be. Jim said he had good reason at the time, but he's sorry. Helen isn't convinced and says that if Jim had any doubts about Douglas he should have brought them to her. Helen is very angry and storms off.

Robinsons
Jim hasn't finished the essay yet because the first paragraph said that Bess had succeeded despite being "handicapped by a small child" (Jim). Helen is very surprised and tells Jim to get over it. Jim is bitter that his mother never read him a bedtime story. Helen wonders if that's why he married Anne - because she was a homebody. Jim says it's not like that - he just wishes he knew who his mother was. Helen urges him to read Scott's essay.
Ramsays
Danny is struggling to load the washing machine. Max dictates a shopping list to him - bread, milk, butter, cheese, cornflakes, muesli, toothpaste, detergent. Max is really trying to make a go of things in the house, it seems. He tells Danny to get some money out of the fridge (that's where he keeps it in case of burgulars!)
Robinsons
Jim has finally read the essay and tells Helen that Scott is a very good writer. He says he's learned more about Scott from the essay than anything. He says maybe he's been using Scott to get back at Bess. Also, he's impressed how much Bess has achieved in her lifetime. He admires and respects her - but he says you're supposed to love your mother and it seems that Jim doesn't very much.
Ramsay Street
Danny has stolen a shopping trolley to bring all of the shopping list home! Danny tells Scott he wants to make an effort with the housework, because Max has given up a new life to look after him.
Ramsays
Max tells Danny off for putting too much detergent in the laundry. Max is eager to hear what he got for his French essay(!). Danny says that Max only got 15 out of 100 for the essay.
Robinsons
Jim is in a better mood this afternoon. When Scott comes in he goes straight to his bedroom though.

Des's
Danny is talking to Des and Daphne about Max - he's a bit upset. Just then Eileen comes round.
DES:(to Daphne) Didn't you lock the door?
Eileen bustles round bossing them about. She gives Danny a hard time about Maria leaving and Daphne tells her off.
Eileen asks Des and Daphne to come out with her and George tonight. Their faces say it all!
Ramsays
Max is scrubbing a burnt saucepan when Jim comes round. Max has come round a bit in his anger at Danny, and it seems Scott has really put him in his place - he seems a bit sheepish. But he doesn't show this to Jim and says that Scott doesn't get enough discipline at home! Jim doesn't take to kindly to this and heads off.
When Jim has gone, and Danny has come in, Max tells Danny that Scott had a yell at him earlier. Max says that he knows there's a lot on Danny's plate because he and Shane are working. But he does want Danny to concentrate on his schoolwork and he want things to work between him and Danny too. Max says that after tea he'll write a letter in French to Danny's teacher.
MAX: She won't fail me again in a hurry!
Des's
Des is trying to get out of going out with Eileen and George.
Des answers the door to George and speaks to him quietly.
DES: Now remember what I told you. Be the man in mum's life, not the mouse!
GEORGE: Oh dear.
George greets them all and Eileen explains that she's invited Des and Daphne. George puts his foot down and tells her that he's booked a table for two.
EILEEN: Now wait a minute. Are you telling me that I can't invite my family to dinner with us?
GEORGE: (pause) Yes I am.
DES: Good one, George.
Eileen says that George can't talk to her like that so he decides to leave. He's clearly rather nervous though!
Des follows George to the door and apologises for things going wrong.
EILEEN: George needs to find out that I am a woman to be reckoned with.
The Bank, the following morning
Des is apologising to George again - he really thought the masterful approach would work. George isn't sure what to do now. He wants to be a man to be reckoned with in Eileen's eyes. Des suggests buying Eileen roses and telling her how beautiful she is - and then he should kiss her!

George is on his own at a table.
The Bank
Des is amazed to see Eileen in the bank. She says that she wants to keep George waiting for a while. Des tells her not to be stupid. He thinks it's rude of Eileen to stand George up, and anyway, at her age, blokes don't grow on trees! Eileen insists she will keep George waiting for another ten minutes.
Restaurant
George leaves the restaurant. A skater-boarder causes a car to swerve over to the pavement where George is walking. He falls to the ground and lies prone.
