Ada asks Rosa about the sheets and says Adelaida wouldn't want to see Hipolita's dirty sheets. Friar Juan tells Adelaida about Hipolita's petition but she denies anything is wrong and swears that Hipolita is no longer a virgen. Adelaida orders Hipolita to tell Friar Juan that she lied because she saw the sheets and knows she's not a virgin or she'll lock her up and say she's possessed. Ada tells Hipolita what she learned of the mystery man and she says that at least her mother-in-law put an important man in her bed and not a criminal. Ada asks her if he was gentle with her. Offended she says even if he was he wasn't her husband. On their way home on the high seas Luis tells Felipe what happened with Hipolita and he says what bothers him the most was that Hipolita was a virgen. Felipe tells him that he had his needs after so many weeks of abstinance. He says that even though she was willing he still fells bad. Fermin tells Antonio of Friar Juan's visit. Antonio wonders who told Hipolita of his dark secret and that his wife is no longer a virgen. He then visits her and she tells him she'll never forgive him. She tells him she wants an annulment and he tells her he can't because she's no longer a virgen. She reminds him that he didn't de-virginize her another man did. He offers to annul the marriage if she isn't pregnant and if she is he'll love the child because it'll be hers. On the high seas it's announced they're near land as a Friar blesses their safe return. Luis wonders who wanted him killed. One week later, Hipolita wonders when she'll get her period. In Veracruz, Mex. Luis and Felipe meet up with Marcos (Marcelo Cordoba) and Lupe and tells them to take the merchandise he brought to Cuencas. Adelaida observes Hipolita and Ada. Luis and Felipe stop to eat when Marcos overhears them talking about Hipolita and asks him not to repeat it what he heard. Luis and Felipe arrive at the Guevara castle when Isabel (Mariana Karr) runs to greet Luis. Vicente (Edgardo Eleazar) tells him that his mother Juana (Daniela Romo), Diego (Luis Roberto Guzman) and his wife Esperanza (Mariana Garza) are all fine. Isabel asks her nephew how many hearts he broke along the way and he tells her of an adventure with a Maria Hipolita. She hesitates and wonders where she's heard that name before. She tells him of Cristobal's visits and wonders why he ever married Esperanza as Luis tells his aunt he wants to change his clothes. Vicente tells Juana of her son's return and she tells Diego the men he hired failed in killing Luis. Hipolita cries as she realizes she's pregnant. Cristobal (Ernesto Laguardia) greets his friend and tells him that God didn't want him yet and is happy to know he's safely home. Diego talks bad about Luis when he arrives. He tells him of the items he bought and tells him of his problem in Panama. Later, Luis tells Cristobal about Adelaida's proposal and his encounter with Maria Hipolita. Isabel tells Esperanza her husband has returned. Cristobal tells Luis he should have controlled himself when Esperanza arrives and Luis greets his wife. Rosa tells Adelaida that Hipolita got her period. Ada tells Hipolita she can't keep her pregnancy hidden for long as she plans how to escape. Esperanza arrives in Luis' room and tells him she's there so he can relieve himself. He tells her it's a not a chore but something to enjoy and she tells him that's a sin. He then tells her it's not necessary and she asks him if he had lovers in Spain and he asks her if she's questioning him. He reminds her that she's had four miscarriages and if she has another one she can die. Antonio tells his mother that he promised Hipolita an annulment if she wasn't pregnant. He admits he's been with prostitutes as she tells him to pretend that Hipolita is one. Hipolita plans her escape. Antonio arrives and she tells him it took three weeks for him to go and see her. He tells her that he cares for her and promises things will change. She begs him to go live in another town but he denies to. Isabel tells Luis and Cristobal that Asuncion had an iilegitimate daughter named Maria Hipolita and lives in Panama. Luis is intrigued and asks her more questions but is only able to answer a few of them. Isabel tells Diego that his fatherly skills are awful as he tells the servants to take away his two daughters. Luis tells Diego that someone from Mexico tries to kill him. Later Juana tells Diego that Luis can't suspect that his own mother wants to kill him and that he's the real Count of Guevara when she switched him and Diego who is her son and not her nephew after a fire broke out that killed Luis' real parents. Hipolita and Ada escape from the Guzman home and ask Rosario (Lupita Lara) for a place to stay. Hipolita says her husband will never find her in a brothel. Later, Hipolita tells Rosario she won't prostitute herself and she asks her if she's hiding.

   Luis recognizes Hipolita and when Marcos tells him if he wants to talk to her he tells him he wants to talk to Martin first. He tells him not to mention his name in front of her. Martin greets Luis and tells him he missed his father who left early on suspicion that something might be wrong and then questions him on Hipolita and though Martin becomes suspicious he agrees to pretend he doesn't know him if she's ever present or say his name. The innkeeper tells Hipolita that an important man wants to take a bath and has to take the tub. She tells him she was first and orders him to get her water. He later tells Luis that the woman denied to give the tub up and has quite an attitude. He tells him he knows and not to worry. He tells her to sit him next to her and tells Marcos that he wonders if she'll recognize him. Modesta (Monica Miguel) tells Juana that Diego isn't home and Juana tells her that if Gasca fails in killing Luis they will no longer try to kill him again. Esperanza drinks the potion. Hipolita and Ada arrive for dinner and a while later Luis appears. When Hipolita sees him she tells Ada he looks familiar and stares at him. Luis introduces himself as Joaquin Cepeda y Carbajal and offers her an apology for the incident involving the tub. She becomes bothered and he tells her it was one of his employees and if she wishes he will punish him and she tells him it's not necessary. He offers her his help but she denies it. Marcos talks to Martin and he denies to tell him anything about Hipolita. He tells him he owes loyalty to Luis and tells him and he tells him he knows as Marcos almost lets it slip about Luis knowing her. He asks him what he means but he covers. Felipe and Lupe are ambushed and are left to die. Hipolita tells Martin she wants to sell her necklace and he takes it to Luis who buys it from him for a lot of money. He opens it and finds a painting inside. Felipe is robbed and Gasca assures Luis is staying at the nearby inn. Martin lies to Hipolita about who bought her necklace. She later tells Ada that when she saw Luis (Joaquin) she thought he was the man from Santa Rita. She tells Ada if she thinks she'll ever marry again and she reminds him she's still married. She tells her she forgives him for being gay but will never forgive him for putting another man in her bed. In Santa Rita Antonio tells his friend Rodrigo (Archy Lanfranco) he's worried about Hipolita and that he owes her a big debt. In Mexico, Gasca and his men ambush the hotel looking for Luis. They enter his room but they don't find him. They search the area and look for him when they see him coming out of the latrine. Luis runs through the fields and is shot at. He's able to escape as Gasca follows him. Hipolita and Martin leave as the deskclerk tells the innkeeper he was beaten up by bandits who wanted to know where Luis' room was. Marcos runs to look for him as he struggles to get back to the inn. Luis tells Marcos they have to look for Felipe. Gasca tells his men that Diego is going to have his head. Luis blames himself if anything happened to Felipe and knew something was wrong. Luis is able to find Felipe and he tells him he's still alove. Isabel asks Juana why she's she so nervous. She then suggests to her they find Luis a lover so she can have a child and pass it off as Esperanza's. She tells her she knows Asuncion has a daughter named Hipolita and lives in Panama and tells her of Luis' encounter with a woman by the same name in that same country. Juana tells Modesta that what Isabel told her is too much of a coincidence. A doctor examines Felipe as Marcos tells Luis the administrator of the mine has arrived. Luis questions him and he tells him he never sent Diego a message. Hipolita wonders if her mother will accept her with open arms. Luis learns Lupe was killed. He tells him he's returning home and to stay with Felipe. They wonder why Diego wants to kill him. Esperanza drinks her potion and says she's going to talk to Juana. She reminds him that if Luis is dead they can't attend any parties. Esperanza arrives and tells Juana of the appearance of the Virgen Mary. Martin offers Hipolita to stay at his house and she agrees. Esperanza tells Juna that Luis hasn't slept with her in three years and she promises to talk to him. Luis returns home as Asuncion arrives to see Juana. Isabel listens in as Asuncion and Juana talk about Hipolita. She reminds her of the promise she made not to tell anyone who Hipolita's father is and learns that Hipolita's husband is from Santa Rita.

Hipolita tells Francisco she'll tell everyone she's related to Asuncion. He tells her that Friar Gaspar overheard her call Asuncion mother and orders her to leave. To make him react she tells her mother she'll ask Luis for help. Later he tells his wife she has to tell her to leave since having there is an insult to him because if Luis offered her help he already slept with her. Luis talks to Cristobal about Hipolita's origin and he tells him he needs to learn if his adventure had consecuences because if it did that child is his. Esperanza tells Mirtha that if Luis divorces her she'll have no choice than to enter the convent. Martin doesn't understand why Juana would want to hurt Hipolita as his mother tells him it's time he finds a wife. Hipolita begs Asuncion not to return her back to her husband. She asks of her father and she learns he's married and has more children and that he's not a relative of Juana's. Asuncion tells her daughter her place is with her husband as she begs her to let Ada and Rafael sleep with her. Friar Gaspar tells Francisco he has to let the Mother Superior know about the illegitimate daughter his wife has and he fears Catalina will be kicked out of the convent. Hipolita tells Ada she's not planning to tell her mother that Rafael is her son and that she needs to talk to Juana. Cristobal tells Luis he needs solid proof that Diego wants to kill him. Cristobal arrives home to the Lara Castle where Aurelio (Benjamin Pinedad) greets him and tells him the manager of the hotel Cristobal owns wants to make some changes. Cristobal tells him he's the one is charge and reminds him that making a big profit is a sin. He tells him he has to return to the convent and to take care of things. Ramon (Arturo Vasquez) and Lazaro attack Vicente and rob him including the letter Juana was sending to Asuncion. Carmela asks Martin about Spain and he tells her that the Spaniards don't like Mexicans and that the French believe that the rich and the poor are the same but she tells him they aren't. Asuncion tells Hipolita to wait for her as she talks to Juana. Luis sees Hipolita and offers her to go inside but she denies to. She asks him why he lied about his name and he tells her that someone is trying to kill him. She doesn't believe him and he offers her an apology. She accepts and tells him to leave. He denies to and she becomes angry. Diego arrives and he introduces her to him. He invites her into the palace and she accepts. They chat as Luis smiles at Hipolita's antics. Asuncion tells Juana that Vicente never arrived at her home. Juana tells Asuncion to tell everyone that Hipolita is a distant relative and is a little crazy and tells her she has to return to Panama. She asks her if she can stay and she tells her that Luis knows of her and he might tell Esperanza who inturn might tell her father and she promised Agustin de Corca that his secret will never be revealed. She asks her how and when Hipolita met Luis. She tells her that she's worried Catalina will be kicked out of the convent as Juana tells Modesta to look for Hipolita. Diego talks to Hipolita when Luis arrives and Diego tells him he wasn't invited. He offers his apology for thinking he wanted to kill him and asks Hipolita how long she's planning to stay. She tells him it depends on several things. He asks her if Francisco treated her badly and asks Diego if he's going to allow it. He offers her to stay at the palace as he and Luis begin to argue. Isabel arrives and meets Hipolita. Modesta tells them that Juana wants to talk to Hipolita. As she leaves Isabel asks Luis what is it that he wants to offer her and he says anything she wants. Hipolita asks Juana why can't she stay. She then calls Luis a gossiper and Juana threatens her. When she denies to return to Panama she tells her she's the one that ruined her life and tells her what her mother-in-law did to her. She tells Juana she's determined to find her son's father and maybe Diego or Luis can help her. Luis denies to Isabel that Hipolita is the same woman from Panama. Hipolita tells her mother her story when Luis arrives and tells him if they need anything to look for him. Asuncion asks her if there's anything between them and she tells her she can't stand Luis. Juana realizes that Luis is the father of Hipolita's son. Juana then talks to Juana and he tells her he's divorcing Esperanza because she can't give him any children and he wants some. She asks him if he's sure he doesn't have any children anywhere. He tells him if he did they would be living with him at the castle and that he doesn't know of any and leaves. Diego tells Juana that he wants Hipolita as his lover. Friar Gaspar tells Sor Teresa (Lucero Lander) about Hipolita. Modesta wonders about Hipolita's son as Juana swears at her. Perla tells Bernarda (Susana Lozano) that her brother Lazaro is looking for her. He gives her the letter that he stole from Vicente and she then gives it to Perla so Cristobal can read it and maybe if it's something important they can ask for money. Asuncion arrives at the convent as Hipolita tells her she's not returning to Panama. Perla arrives at Cristobal's office and runs into Luis. He offers to read the letter but she denies. When he sees the seal of his family on the letter he asks her where she got it from.

  Luis confuses Adalgisa and she tells him to ask Hipolita about her life as she lies to him. In a procession Catalina and Cristobal meet eye to eye as he stares at her. Cristobal tells his sister that a lot of the novices are there againt their will and she reminds him it's his job as their spiritual adviser to learn how each one feels. Isabel asks Juana who Hipolita's father is. She then calls her on her indifference towards Luis and protecting Diego and that sometimes she believes that she's not Luis' mother. Esperanza arrives and asks her if she talked to Luis and she promises to talk to him again. Esperanza asks Mirtha if she thinks Luis is cheating on her and she tells him he's a man. She tells her if she's faithful Luis also should be. Mirtha reminds her that she doesn't like sex and she tells her it's a sin to enjoy it and can't believe any woman can like it since it's so nauseating. Carmela tells Felipe how rude Martin was to her and that she feels uncomfortable having Perla in her home. Diego tells Esperanza that Luis denies to sleep with her and insinuates that he's involved with another woman. Mirtha tells her it's probably a prostitute but she leaves seething. Luis enters Hipolita's room but she denies his help. As he's about to leave she stops him. She explains why she wanted to look for her father so he can help her get a divorce. He tells her there's only two legal reasons to get one, her husband is impotent or can't have any children. Andres see the men outside Hipolita's room and tells his father. Luis asks Hipolita if she had a child with another man. She asks him if he's ever been to Santa Rita, Panama when Francisco bursts in. He demands to know what's going on and both deny anything is. Luis offers to repay the damage, he says he can't marry her even though he would love to but offers him money much to Hipolita's chagrin. Asuncion gets after Hipolita and she tells her she was only looking for help from Martin not Luis. She tells her that Luis wants something in return for his help and she says she only has two alternatives: jail or prostitution. Martin learns Hipolita is married. Francisco tells Andres of Hipolita's origin. Ada tells Hipolita that Luis questioned her and she tells her to ask Martin in Luis was in Panama 3 years earlier. At that same moment Luis tells his men to deny he was ever in Panama. Ada arrives and asks Martin but as ordered he denies it. Luis tells Martin she can never know he was ever in Panama. Hipolita tells Ada she wished it was Luis the man she was looking for but on the other hand she doesn't because he's Juana's son. Luis and his men arrive at a tavern where he runs into Gasca who denies to tell him why Diego sent him to the region. Carmela worries that Luis and Martin will confront each other over Hipolita. Juana learns Diego is up to something. Gasca and his men arrive at Las Tunas. Hipolita feels pushed aside by her mother. Gasca talks to Francisco about Diego's offer to help Hipolita. Francisco tells Andres to talk to Hipolita about Diego wanting to help her as he knows he only wants her for a lover. Andres talks to Hipolita and tells him of Diego's 'good' intentions. Esperanza wonders why Diego would insinuate that Luis likes another woman. Juana tellsa Modesta she's worried what Diego is up to and talks bad about Hipoilita. Ada tells Hipolita that Diego wants to sleep with her in exchange for his help but she tells her it's not true. Cristobal tells Teresa he wants to meet one of the novices. He then meets Catalina and he tells her to speak with the truth. She asks him if he really cares and that she knows that being a woman she has to obey the men. He tells her to confide in him but she says no one can help her and leaves. Esperanza's father Agustin de Corca (David Ostrosky) arrives at the Guevara palace. Cirilio informs Luis of his father-in-law's arrival. Agustin tells Juana that he would prefer his daughter die in childbirth than be rejected. In turn Juana tells him if he'd prefer his daughter be rejected or for her to reveal that he lied when he signed a document stating he had no illegitimate children. He threatens her and wonders how much Luis would pay to learn he's the Count of Guevara and that she's not his mother. Isabel talks to Luis about Viente. He tells her he doesn't want to see his father-in-law and that the Virgen Mary didn't appear to his wife. Agustin talks to Esperanza and tells her that Juana is going to resolve the problem. She also tells him about Luis accusing Diego of trying to kill him. Hipolita accepts Diego's offer. Perla tells Luis who Lazaro is. Luis tells Felipe that Hipolita is the woman from Panama and he promises not to reveal it to anyone not even Martin. Gasca tells Francisco not to let Asuncion talk to Hipolita. Ada feels something's wrong when Gasca tells Hipolita that Ada wasn't part of the plan. Cristobal tells Luis he learned something about the painting.

Martin defends Hipolita and Luis can't believe he was disrespectful to him. Cristobal comes between them. He asks him what's going on and Martin tells them he's worried about her. Luis tells Cristobal that they don't know Hipolita well and that no woman in her right mind would travel on her own but that she's very smart yet he doesn't know what to do. Isabel questions Juana as she asks her why she doesn't support her only son and asks her if she's afraid of Agustin. Esperanza wonders if Luis will kill her for what she's done. Juana learns of Diego's plan. He asks her what connection there is between Hipolita and Agustin and she tells him none. Juana confesses to Diego that Hipolita has a son by Luis. He and Cristobal arrive at the brothel and ask for Hipolita. Diego tells Juana he understands her worries abd agrees to send Hipolita back to Panama but not before he sleeps with her. Hipolita denies to go with Luis as she asks Cristobal what king of religious man is he. Luis asks her if she already slept with Diego and she's offended. Before he leaves Cristobal offers her his help. He then tries to defend her to Luis to no avail. Hipolita complains to Ada about Luis. Juana worries that Luis will kill Diego if he learns he has a son by Hipolita and that Diego wants to sleep with her. Luis tells Juana to order Diego return Hipolita to Las Tunas or he will. She tells him she'll do it as he advises her to send her to Las Tunas and not Veracruz. Hipolita threatens to hurt the madam when she tries to stop her from leaving. Luis, Marcos and Martin arrive at Felipe's as they plan what to do next. Hipolita arrives to see Juana as does Agustin de Corca. Hipolita asks Juana for help. She tells her she promised her father she would never reveal his name. She tells him she'll do anything she asks of her. She offers her a way out but Hipolita is against being separated from Rafael. Juana tells her she has to disappear and to pick one of the choices she gave her. Isabel's offended when Agustin says that maybe Luis has the problem and not his daughter. Agustin comes face to face with Hipolita and follows her. Modesta tells Juana who goes after them. He offers to take her home when Juana arrives. Luis offers to take her instead but she denies to and leaves. Agustin tells Juana that he now understands why Luis wants to divorce his daughter. Luis follows Hipolita as she tells him to leave her alone. He introduces her to Felipe and she begins to cry. Hipolita tells Luis to leave her alone as she's observed by Marcos and Martin. He asks her what she talked to his mother about and she tells him to go to hell. She throws the madam out of her room and goes to hug her son. Marcos tells Martin not to question Luis and advises him to talk to his father. Juana visits Sor Teresa and asks her to take in Hipolita and orders her not to let Luis or Diego see her and she agrees. Hipolita tells Ada she was willing to sleep with Diego in order not to be separated from her son but knew Juana would have her way sooner or later. Felipe tells Luis that he doesn't like Martin's disrespect towards him. Diego tells Gasca he's going to keep Hipolita waiting. Juana plans her next move. Felipe confronts his son and tells him to step aside but he denies to saying he's a man first before a servant and doesn't like how Diego or Luis are treating Hipolita. Felipe tells his son that to Luis, Hipolita isn't a woman he wants to pass the time with and that there's a back story but denies to give him any details. Isabel asks Juana if she and Agustin are an item and she explodes. Cristobal tells Luis that Friar Alvaro has summoned him but he changes the subject to Hipolita. He asks him how important Hipoilita is to him. He says he doesn't know but that she's gotten under his skin. Cristobal asks him if he pretends to be the prince that rescues her but he reminds him that she has several problems to resolve. Ada sleeps as Hipolita cries at the thought of leaving his son. At dawn, Marcos and Martin see Domingo arrive with a carriage to take Ada and Hipolita. They follow her to the convent where her sister is as she tells Ada to take care of her son and not tell anyone Rafael is hers. She promises that she will soon reunited again with her son.

Hipolita and Perla begin their day at the convent as Juana asks Modesta if she talked to Domingo. Luis tells Cirilio he doesn't believe Domingo as he offers to learn the truth and he agrees. Juana thinks Luis is suspicious as Cirilio tells him Domingo went to Las Tunas.

     Cristobal learns Hipolita is Catalina's servant and Teresa tells him it's a good idea. He tells her she knows Catalina doesn't want to profess but won't do anything. He then talks to Catalina and tells her he knows who Hipolita is and to accept her sister. He leaves and by mistake he leaves his crucifix behind and Catalina sees it. She follows him when he sees him talking to Hipolita. She's surprised to learn that Cristobal knows all about her. He then asks her why she becomes bothered at the mention of Luis' name.

     Cristobal laughs at Luis' antics when Felipe arrives and Cristobal greets him. Catalina asks Hipolita how she met Cristobal. Esperanza plans to talk to Juana. Isabel tells Vicente of Marina's upcoming visit as she learns the Escobar family and Agustin are at the palace. Asuncion feels uncomfortable when Isabel arrives and questions her about her mother and learns she lived in Santa Rita, Panama. Diego tells Gasca he wants to talk to Agustin. Juana gets after Vicente for putting all the guests in the same room.

     Juana orders Esperanza to tell Friar Alvaro that Luis' attitude has changed towards her. Diego becomes nervous when Agustin mentions his childhood and Juana's preference for him over her own son. Luis tells Felipe that he wants to talk to Hipolita about the child and wonders if it's true. Juana tells Asuncion she gave Hipolita two choices, the convent or Panama. She then lies to her and tells her she was Diego's lover. She also asks him about Agustin. Juana demands to talk to Francisco after she learns she read her letter and knows Rafael is Hipolita's son.

     Diego agrees to hire Andres as his servant. Luis meets Margarita, Marcos' sister and tells her to tell Hipolita that Martin wants to talk to her. Francisco mistreats Asuncion as Juana orders him not to let Ada of his property. Margarita gives Hipolita the message. Catalina draws a sketch of Cristobal and then asks God for forgiveness.

     Modesta tells Juana that it would be nice to have Rafael live at the palace. Juana insults Esperanza. Hipolita tries to run away when she sees Luis and not Martin. She asks him why he's there as he stares at her. She denies having any children and tells him that Juana is a bad woman even worse than her mother-in-law. She denies to accept Luis' help when Perla and Mother Perpetua sees them.

     Juana wonders what Diego is up to. Isabel tells Juana of her suspicions of Agustin and Asuncion. Teresa gets after Hipolita as Luis tells her it's his fault. Asuncion gets after her daughter and tells her if she plans to be Luis' lover like she became Diego's but she denies it. Mirtha and Esperanza plan to drug Luis.

     Catalina cries at her disgrace as Asuncion tells Francisco that Catalina wants to leave the convent. Perla is jealous of Hipolita. Isabel visits Luis and he tells her he wants a different life. Mirtha arrives and tells Luis his wife wants to see him. He drinks a sip of the wine but he tells her it's sour and doesn't drink it. He tells Esperanza he wants her to have pleasure when they are together but she tells him it's a sin and he leaves.

Hipolita tries to talk to her sister but she denies to listen to her and is embarrassed she found the sketch. Gasca orders Andres to kill Lazaro. Esperanza asks Mirtha about Diego and hopes she isn't pregnant.

     Juana tells Modesta to personally prepare Diego's food and to fire all the servants when Esperanza arrives and asks for him. Juana plans her next move. Andres is smitten by a young lady that arrives at the palace. Gasca tells Juana he followed her orders. He then tells Andres he's now Diego's personal assistant.

     Isabel takes Marina (Sherlyn) under her wing. Esperanza wants to see Diego. Gasca orders Andres to cut his hair. Luis buys a house for Perla as Felipe asks him what he plans to do in regards to Hipolita. Juana wonders of Esperanza's sudden interest in Diego as he smiles.

     Carmela tells Felipe he overheard his and Felipe's conversation and tells him to tell Martin the truth so he can lose interest in Hipolita. Juana insults Isabel as she talks to Luis. She tells him that she thinks Agustin is Hipolita's father. He doesn't believe so but she tells him it could be true because Agustin knows something about Juana.

     Diego visits Esperanza and tells her to confide in him and that he only wants to help her. Perla and Hipolita are ready to go out on their day off. Hipolita is prohibited to leave the convent as she tells Perla to give Martin a message, to come see her. Marcos waits for Perla and takes her to see her new home. She tells him about Hipolita's message for Martin.

     Esperanza visits Friar Alvaro. Perla visits Martin and gives him Hipolita's message. Carmela asks Martin when Hipolita and Luis met. Teresa gets after Hipolita and tells her she has orders from Juana not to let her out of the convent and she cries.

     Esperanza lies to Friar Alvaro and tells him that Luis slept with her. Luis sees Mirtha and Esperanza leave his office. He enters to see the Friar and he congratulates him for following his orders. Luis has no choice but to keep quiet as she tells Mirtha what the meeting was all about.

     Diego asks Juana about Esperanza as she tells him she lies. Juana tells Diego that he needs a male heir and he tells her it's not his fault that all he has is daughters. Isabel visits Hipolita and offers to take her out of the convent. She denies her help and also denies having a child and runs away from her. Marina thanks Isabel for taking her in.

     The soldiers have a warrant for Felipe's arrest. Perla talks to Luis and thanks him for the house. Luis confronts Esperanza and she begins to cry and tells him that Juana ordered her to do it. Juana denies it and Luis tells her he couldn't tell Friar Alvaro that his wife was lying. Cristobal tells Luis he should have told the truth but he tells him he didn't want any reprocussions for her. Juana asks Esperanza why she lied.

     Luis questions Perla and she becomes jealous of Hipolita. She tells him of Hipolita's plan when Martin arrives and tells him Felipe has been arrested. Diego learns of the meeting. Luis and Cristobal talk to the Genral (Eduardo Linan) and defend Felipe as Luis orders that he be released.

   Gasca shows Diego the items he stole from Agustin when he killed him. Martin tells Marcos he's heading home and for him to give Juana the news. He arrives at the palace where he informs Juana of Agustin's death. She asks him what was Luis doing in San Luis de Cobre.

     Juana informs Diego of Agustin's death and she's surprised at his reaction. She asks him if he killed him but he denies it saying he's only looking at the good side of a bad situation, Agustin is no longer a threat to them. She tells him Luis was in San Luis and they wonder if he talked to Agustin. Again, he denies killing him and becomes bothered when she tells him the party has to be canceled. Esperanza blames herself for her father's death as Isabel tries to calm her down.

     Martin asks his father if Luis knew Hipolita in Panama. Felipe tells him to show some respect as Martin asks his father to show him the respect he deserves as him son or is it that he prefers Luis over him and he walks away. At the convent Hipolita is uneasy and asks Perla if Juana has any siblings as she confesses that she was born illegitimate. Perla tells her of her life's story of being thrown away in a trash can and then being sold at age 13 by the woman who found her. The funeral procession for Agustin de Corca begins.

     In Cuencas, a mass is celebrated in honor for Agustin. Gasca gives the rings he took from Agustin and gives them to Ramon to sell them. At the palace, Esperanza tells Mirtha that it's God's way of punishing her for lying and being an adultress. She fears that now that her father has died Luis will divorce her.

     Juana asks Vicente where Gasca is as she tells Modesta she knows Diego sent him to kill Agustin. She fears that Diego will one day be killed if he commits an error. Luis arrives home and looks in on Esperanza but is unable to speak with her. He then goes to see Juana and he asks her if Agustin was Hipolita's father. She denies it but when he tells her he's already dead she admits that he is. He asks her why it was such a secret and if he had something on her but she denies it. He then asks her if they were lovers but she denies it and leaves. She then talks to Modesta who suggests she let Hipolita out of the conventsince the danger doesn't exist anymore.

     Domingo follows Mirtha as she visits the witch doctor. Carmela begs Felipe to tell Martin the truth but he denies to saying the time isn't right. Andres talks to Marina. Mirtha gives Esperanza a potion as Domingo tells Juana where he followed her to. Isabel tells Luis maybe Agustin learned Juana was having an affair and he was blackmailing her. He tells her he's going to tell Hipolita who her father is as she tells him she visited her in the convent. Luis visits Esperanza and offers his condolenses and asks her if she wants to spend some time with her brother and sisters and she agrees.

     Martin tries to give advice to Martin to no avail. Luis arrives and tells Vicente to get a carriage ready for Esperanza's trip. The men then head to the convent where Luis tells Teresa he's taking Perla the following morning. Hipolita sees Martin and tells him she needs his help to escape from the convent. Luis arrives and offers to help her but she denies it and runs away. Perla arrives and tells her she's leaving the convent but in exchange wants information on Hipolita. Marcos asks Martin what Hipolita asked of him but he tells him to butt out.

     At the palace, Felipe and Luis talk about the faulty mine and then about Hipolita. He tells him he wants to learn what she asked of Martin. Marcos learns Martin rented a carriage for that same night. Perla learns Hipolita is escaping that night with Martin. Perla leaves the convent and arrives at the palace. Marcos tells her to go back to the convent and try to stop Hipolita as she gets ready.

     Cristobal and Luis arrive at the palace and learn of the escape. Isabel asks Juana if Agustin has something on her but she denies it. Martin waits for Hipolita when Perla arrives and tells them Luis on his way. At that moment they're surprised by soldiers who confuse them for thieves. They start runningand one of them shoots Perla in the back. Marcos, Cristobal and Luis hear the shot and all three along with Martin fight the soldiers. Hipolita tends to a grave Perla. Cristobal runs to thei side and yells they have to leave at that moment.

  Felipe arrives at Valverde and sees Martin. Felipe gets after him and tells him his bad luck is having him for a son. Luis is surprised to learn Juana hasn't done anything to help him. Luis denies to have Martin turn himself in. Perla and Hipolita argue about their situation.

     Luis tells Felipe what Hipolita told him and tells him to return and with Cristobal's help get his son out of Las Tunas and take him to Cristobal's palace. He tells him she ignores who he is and wonders if he'll be able to win her before she learns the truth. Francisco asks Ada about Asuncion. She tells him she doesn't know anything. He threatens to hurt Rafel if she doesn't tell him and she confesses she went to see Juana.

     At the convent Cristobal tells Asuncion what happened. Cristobal's surprised at Teresa's tactiness. Catalina tells Asuncion that Hipolita at least had the courage to escape. She also tells her that Luis is in love with Hipolita. Catalina begs her mother to get her out of there and admits that she is in love. Hipolita gives some of her clothing to Perla as she wonders why she has so much consideration for a servant and her son. Marcos arrives and tells them that Luis wants to talk to them. He tells them of the charges they each might face and that it can be taken care of with a fine and that he will take responsibility for the soldier's death. Martin tells him not to but Luis tells him they're going to do what he says.

     Francisco arrives at the castle as Asuncion talks to Isabel about Hipolita's escape. She's shocked when Isabel tells her that he wants Luis to be her protector. Andres tells Francisco about Hipolita's escape and then insults Asuncion when Isabel leaves them alone.

     Luis tells Hipolita to stop lying and she admits that she has a son. She asks him what he thinks of her and he calls her brave. He learns his son's name is Rafael. He asks her if she regrets having him and she admits that at first she prayed she wasn't pregnant but when she had him he became her reason for living. He tells her he wants to help her and she tells him to help her find Rafel's father. He becomes nervous and tells her she would be the one to one damaged if she were to confront him saying that it's normal for a man to have children outside the marriage. She asks him if he has any and he says he has a son but that he just found out. She asks him if he's going to take him away from his mother and he says it would depend on her when Martin arrives and tells him he didn't see any soldiers.

     Cristobal tells the General that two new witnesses colloborate Luis' story but he denies to believe their version. Felipe tries to talk some sense into Martin to no avail. He in turn insults his father and he slaps him. He leaves as he tells Marcos to talk to him. He tells him to tell him the truth but he denies to. Marcos tells him he needs a good beating and Felipe tells him if it's necessary he has his permission.

     Luis looks at a picture of his uncle and tells Felipe he looks more like him than his own father. Felipe tells him about Martin and Luis offers to tell him the truth but he denies to telling him it's not necessary. Luis reminds his friend that Martin sees him like his rival when Hipolita arrives. She tells Felipe to send a message to Asuncion and Ada to take care of Rafael. As she leaves Felipe asks him if he's ever going to tell her the truth and he says he probably never will.

     Juana confronts questions about Luis in the town's square. Juana tells Diego she's worried about the scandal and plans to defend Luis. He tells her it's the best opportunity to get rid of him but she denies to. He says he's going ahead with his plans as she tells Modesta she wants to talk to Andres.

     Isabel talks to Cristobal about Luis and he offers to tell the truth even if it means he'll be expelled from the seminary. He reminds her that it's been many years he's waited to be ordained but feels the Spanish leaders don't want to give up too much power. Isabel jokes with him saying he's too handsome to become a priest and should be making babies instead as Marina laughs.

     Juana orders Andres to tell her anything that Diego does concerning Luis. Isabel tells Marina to befriend Andres. Felipe leaves with Martin nowhere in sight and bids farewell to Luis and Hipolita. Luis tells her that Martin is in love with her but she reiterates that she didn't lead him on. He then offers to give Rafel his name but she turns him down sayinghis wife is her sister. Luis confesses to her the he lied to her about having a son and she begins to hit him. Martin sees them and comes to blows with him. Marcos arrives and takes Martin away.

     As darkness falls Marcos looks for Martin. Luis look for Hipolita as Perla asks her why he wants to talk to her and she tells her she doesn't know as she ignores him. After much insistince he gives up and leaves.

     Felipe tells Cristobal that Rafael is Luis's son. The next day Francisco talks to Diego and he learns Hipolita's son is at Las Tunas. Diego tells Gasca that Rafel is Luis' son and to go get him. Marcos tells Luis hat Martin is nowhere to be found as he tells him to get the horses ready. He offers a truce to Hipolita and asks her if she wants to accompany him to buy food. Diego orders Gasca to kidnap Rafael. Francisco tells him to tell him everything he hears when he's with Diego. Gasca looks for Ramon. Cristobal looks for Felipe. Perla tells Martin that Hipolita is in love with him.
